Driving Around

It had been a while since I had done any significant driving around.  Most of my driving over the past few weeks has been restricted to within a few miles of where I live.  Today, I ventured out in hopes of finding a particular place.  I had been there before, but it had been a couple years since my last visit.

The drive there was rather uneventful, at least on the interstate.  Once I got off the interstate, however, I had to keep a close eye on the knucklehead in front of me, because they seemed to enjoy randomly slamming on their brakes at the last minute to avoid hitting the person in front of them.  Considering the fact I could not quite remember where the place I was looking for was, I was having to divide my attention between driving, looking at different signs in hopes of finding the one I was looking for, and trying to avoid hitting the knucklehead in front of me.

I figured that things would be better once I was on my way home, because I was no longer behind that knucklehead.  Wrong.  I got stuck behind a bus whose driver seemed quite content in going 30 mph on the interstate.  I was rather surprised that I managed to get around the bus without getting hit by another driver.  Before getting stuck behind the bus, though, I had to deal with another knucklehead who did not want to let me onto the interstate.  He finally moved over at the last possible second allowing me to avoid driving on the shoulder until he passed.

After all was said and done, I was quite happy to get home and recover from the craziness of today's traffic.  I had actually gone at least a week without having any complaints about other drivers.  Why did today have to ruin that?

  1. I love Oklahoma, but we sure do seem to have some of the worst drivers on the planet! I've always tried to give them the benefit of the doubt — country people who are intimidated by the city traffic. That theory worked for me years ago, but it's getting a little worn out now. I'm far more inclined to think these people are simply a bunch of idiots who have no business driving.

I honestly wonder how many of the knuckleheads we have to dodge actually have licenses. It's scary sometimes how bad drivers can be, even in broad daylight. I always thought the worst drivers came out at night. Not around here…
