Happy Mother’s Day!

Today was an extra special Mother's Day for my cousin, who welcomed her second son into the world earlier today.  He arrived exactly as the doctor predicted several months ago.  I wonder how often that actually happens.  Last month, we were not sure if the little boy would make it until May.  There were a couple indications he wanted to come early, but he ultimately decided against it, I guess.

Every time a baby arrives, my mother usually makes something for the baby.  When I was younger, it was usually bibs and a sampler announcing date, time, and weight of the new family member.  When my mom became more interested in quilting, this shifted into quilts for the baby.  This time was no exception.  She made a quilt featuring baby jungle animals for our new family member.  She made sure not to forget his older brother, though.  She made him a sport themed throw blanket.  As one can see, one of the cats, Stealth, approved of the throw blanket.
