Is it me, or is Oklahoma getting more hail than usual this year? Well, maybe the OKC area, then.

I can only remember one hail storm last year, and it was in May and did damage to a number of vehicles.  My car has a couple minor dings and several of the patrol vehicles on base had a fair amount of damage from that storm.  I do not even want to think of how badly the planes got hit by that storm.  I was happy to be off that evening.

This year, I can think of at least three storms off the top of my head that have produced hail bad enough that I have gone outside afterward to inspect my car.  In fact, earlier this week, I also checked the windows to my apartment to make sure there were not any dings or cracks.  I was amazed to find there were none on either the windows or my car.  That storm made such a horrendous racket against the front of my apartment that had I been small enough, I probably would have seriously considered joining the cats under the bed.  I definitely moved into the hallway to get away from the windows until the storm settled down a bit.  I found two sandles outside my apartment the following morning.  Apparently, my neighbors left them on their porch and the wind carried them away.  One was black, the other was smaller and pink.

I really like thunderstorms and rain.  In fact, I watched the lightning reflect off my car right before that storm hit earlier this week.  I took a couple pictures of it, because I thought it was neat.  Then, the hail started coming down and my happiness toward the storm went away.  I truly hope that will be the last of the hail for a bit.

One Response to Hail

  1. Some years you get 'em, some years you don't.
