Bouncing Tires

Definitely not something anyone wants to see heading in their direction as they drive down the interstate.

Mom and I were on our way to a restaurant to celebrate a friend’s birthday.  Ahead of us was a truck towing a trailer in the lane next to us.  In the middle of the trailer was a tire that had nothing securing it to the trailer.  I am amazed it did not fall off sooner, but I watched in horror as it suddenly flew off and bounced in our direction.  We had no place to go.  Luckily for us, the tire bounced the other way, went over the SUV that had been behind the truck, and then continued bouncing down the interstate behind us.  I do not think it hit anyone, but I am not sure.  I was quite thankful it did not hit us.

The rest of our trip to the restaurant was much less eventful.  We arrived and had a terrific lunch.  Excellent food.  I got some seafood pasta and have enough left over to enjoy for lunch tomorrow.  The best part of the lunch was dessert, though.  I ordered a chocolate cake that was layered with mousse.  Very rich, and the slice was huge.  Next time, I am going to have to split that dessert.  It will take me a couple days to finish off the rest of that slice, but it will be so worth it.

The only downside to this restaurant was the price, but I think the food and company more than made up for it.

The trip home was uneventful, too.  No more bouncing tires.  I hope that is the only time I experience that scare.
