For many of us, winter is blooming into spring, or fall hardening into winter. Which season do you most look forward to?
I prefer autumn to the other seasons, though spring is a close second due to all the blooming daffodils and tulips. Autumn is still warm, but not quite as hot as summer, and we usually have plenty of sun to enjoy before the wet winter moves in. At least, that is my hope each year. Some years are certainly better than others. And I am referring to the Northwest, though some will likely laugh at the idea of our summers being hot. I agree with their humor, too, after being stationed down in Oklahoma. But, we are acclimated to the temperatures, so it does feel hot to us, particularly on the occasions where we actually do see 90+ degrees on the temperature gauges. Another thing I like about the fall is the brilliant leave colors. I always enjoy watching the leaves turn brilliant shades of orange, yellow, and red. Too bad the leaves do not stay there, though, since I really do not care for raking, though maple leaves provide excellent protection for our flower beds during the winter.
