I enjoyed my first week at work, though I am extremely anxious about heading into my second week, since I will be going solo, and the majority of the places are those I have not yet worked at before. My co-workers will support me as needed, though it will be from other stores. At least I know the basics. The technicalities of the paperwork can be figured out later. A disadvantage I have is that I do not have an official log-in, so I am still relying on my co-workers for assistance there. It ought to be an interesting solo week.
Shoplifters are always interesting to bust. One is never quite sure if they will actually listen when you tell them to come back in. Fortunately, I have not had anyone try to run on me yet. I thought one would, but he changed his mind. They all admitted what they did, too. I suppose it is hard not to when they know there are cameras in the store. There was one who my partner caught who said something along the lines of, “You guys have hidden cameras? You’re allowed to do that?” I bit my tongue. The cameras are quite obvious. I have gotten my fill of people watching over the past several days, too. Odd hats and outfits to bizarre behaviors.
The only issue I have had thus far is remembering how exactly to do all the different paperwork. Each city the stores are in is different, so trying to learn all those differences is going to be interesting. But I will figure it out, bit by bit.
More to come.
