Busy Time

Honestly, I did not think I have been this busy.  Yet, it has been well over a month since I last wrote something here.  So, now I am trying to remember everything that has happened.

Work continues to have its interesting surprises.  We had one co-worker suddenly switch job sites.  It is an easier commute for him, but it left everyone surprised.  This is mostly because he did not give anyone a chance to say goodbye.  Two standby officers that I have had trouble with are gone.  They were placed in permanent positions.  I do hope they have decided it is a good transition, but I cannot deny that I am glad to not have to deal with them.  A co-worker from my first site has found a position at my second site.  She and I see each other regularly, though only for a few minutes at a time, since one of us is relieving the other.  It has been interesting to see how she works after not seeing her for several months.  I think it will be a little while before she gets used to my co-workers on graveyard, though.  They are pretty quiet, and she seems to have decided that means they are unfriendly or uncommunicative.  And things have settled down after a couple months of uncertainty.  For how long? Who knows?

Both of my brothers are looking for jobs.  My youngest brother has one, but is looking for one closer to his preferred career path.  He has been successful to a point.  The people who are overseeing the hiring process have said he will likely get a phone call.  He is now trying to be patient as he waits.  My other brother has not fared as well, though I am ecstatic that he is looking for a regular job.  I honestly do not know how seriously he is looking, but he is talking about specific places and interviews, which is much more than he has done in the past.  It is a start.

My cousin left earlier this month to spend a year in China.  She will be teaching English to children.  This news came rather suddenly earlier this month, though I imagine it is a decision she has pondered for a while.  I am a little nervous for her, but I am sure she will have quite an adventure.

My father just celebrated his birthday this past weekend.  The next few weekends promise to be rather full, too.  My mother’s birthday is coming up and numerous friends are arranging gatherings.  It promises to be a busy month.  And I am looking forward to it.
