Two of a Kind

Two of a Kind

The back-stitch on this project was quite tedious, but it made the completed project look so much better.  It was well worth the hours of careful stitching.  I am still debating how to finish this project.  Do I want to frame it and put it on a wall? Or do I want to make it into a throw pillow?

I am trying to juggle cross-stitch and reading.  I am working my way through A Game of Thrones.  This is harder than one might think, since I really want to do both, but I am managing okay, I think.

Work was difficult last week.  A news helicopter crashed near the building I work in, though I had left for the day before the accident occurred.  Both men on board died and one person on the ground was badly burned.  A lot of people are stunned and grieving, and I felt that more and more as the week went on.  I am glad that I have had the last couple days off.  It has given me a much needed chance to recuperate.

We brought in a tree service to take down a large, dead pine in our backyard.  They were able to take it down safely.  We still have a fair amount of rounds leftover.  A friend and his son came over to collect some for firewood last weekend.  Mom called it an exercise in testosterone.  The friend, his son, then Dad and my brother felt the need to show each other they could lift the smaller rounds and lug them to the front yard and place them in the vehicle.  I wish I had been there to watch this.  Mom was still laughing about it when she described it to me later.  The friend is hoping to come back and collect more of the wood, but I will likely be working when he does.  Maybe I can convince Mom to collect video of the silliness.
