Large Groups

The main reason I dislike large events or protests happening near my job site isn’t really because of the potential for vandalism or violence.  Sure, I hope those don’t happen and, so far, they haven’t.  The biggest issue I have with events is the greater number of transients attracted to the area.  I get they hope for food or money to make their situation a little more bearable, but some have mental illness that aren’t being treated, and those tend to be the most difficult to talk to.  They are the people who start screaming when my co-workers or I ask them to leave.  They are the ones who make threats and imply they have weapons and demand the police to be called, even after we tell them exactly how that’s going to work out for them.  It makes for some long nights and interesting incident reports.  I don’t like those nights.

About emeree

I am an Air Force veteran. I served as a Security Forces troop for nearly seven years and reached the rank of Staff Sergeant before separating in 2008. My tours of duty were in England and Oklahoma. I live in the Seattle area, which is where I grew up. I used my GI Bill and earned a degree from the University of Washington. I currently work in downtown Seattle and experience all the adventure that comes with that.
