Housewarming

My brother recently purchased his first home. It’s a bit north of us, but well worth the drive. He, his girlfriend, and their roommate have done a good job putting the house together. I got to see it yesterday during their housewarming party. I also had the opportunity to meet several members of his girlfriend’s family. They seem like great people.

I wasn’t sure I would be able to attend, because a coworker called out on Saturday, and they’ve been known to call out multiple days in a row. I told my supervisor on Saturday about the family gathering I hoped to go to the following afternoon in an effort to give him a warning that I wouldn’t be available yesterday to cover extra hours. Fortunately, that coworker didn’t call out again, so it was never an issue.

I did have to cancel plans I had on Saturday, though. Mom and I were  invited to a stitching group meeting at a nearby library. I really wanted to go, despite being sleep deprived, because our friends are fun to be around. Oh well. Next time, I hope.

Work was interesting while my boss was on vacation last month. It seemed all the weird stuff that happens on occasion knew she was gone and took advantage. I think we handled the challenge well, though.

There was a drive-by shooting outside my workplace last month. Two people were hurt, one seriously. I was outside and nearby when it happened, so I was a bit rattled. I am grateful no one was killed and neither my partner nor I were hurt.
